HeroesToo reforestation program

Our tree-planting program was initiated on 27th July, 2010. In collaboration with the Guangdong Academy of Forestry, HeroesToo funded GAF’s reforestation program in Guangdong. The reforestation site, Lashi Village, covers an initial 160 hectares and we have planted 21,500 saplings of 59 different species. The program is not just about the trees, but the people too – the reforestation program creates jobs for the villagers and provides an invaluable source of income for them. The reforestation program is made possible through support from individuals and corporates alike.

Tree Species Selected for this program

Tree species used for this program was determined by interviewing the farmers and by taking into consideration the carbon sequestration rates, biodiversity enhancement, soil and climate conditions, along with the value of associated forest products. In this program, a total of 59 species of trees are proposed (See appendix i), including 10 species of valuable timber-use trees, 37 species of indigenous trees, and 12 species of non-woody product tree species. The criteria of selecting these species are base on their benefits as summarized by Table. 1

Support from individuals through Buy one Plant one program

We believe in giving back to the community, that is why when you buy one of our “Plant-One -Buy-One-Product”, you can register your product on our website, and we will plant one tree in our reforestation site.
